What is The Ronnenberg Legacy Society?

Photo of 4 ladies by river waterfront. The Ronnenberg Legacy Society was established to recognize alumni and friends who have made a commitment to Mercy College through bequests. As founders, Mary Ellen & Francis Ronnenberg made a charitable pledge to Mercy College in 2001 using the many opportunities available through gift planning.

Planned gifts have become increasingly important to Mercy College’s strength and growth. They provide student scholarships, professorships, unrestricted funds, and a higher quality of education for all students. Your commitment may be made to any area of our College—the undergraduate or graduate programs, libraries, or athletics.

Benefits of Membership

  • The opportunity to be recognized for your generosity and to encourage other gifts through your example.
  • An invitation to the annual appreciation luncheon.
  • Special invitations to college activities and events.
  • The Institutional Advancement staff is at your service to arrange tours, meetings, and to provide answers to any questions you may have.
  • The immeasurable satisfaction of supporting and participating in the vision, mission, and legacy of Mercy College.

How to Join

The following types of commitments qualify you for membership in The Ronnenberg Legacy Society:

  • a bequest provision in your will or revocable trust
  • a life-income gift that names Mercy College as a remainder beneficiary, such as a charitable remainder trust
  • a charitable lead trust that provides income to Mercy College for a donor’s lifetime or a term of years
  • a gift or assignment of qualified retirement-plan assets, such as an IRA, 401(k), or 403(b)
  • a gift of life insurance

If you have already included Mercy College in a bequest or other planned gift, we hope you will let us know by contacting our Gift Planning Office at Ronnenbergsociety@mercy.edu or 914-674-7782. Your willingness to be listed as a member of The Ronnenberg Legacy Society encourages others to follow your example. We acknowledge and respect those who wish to remain anonymous, but we urge you to let us know of your plans on a confidential basis in any case. It supports the College’s planning for the future. Of course, if you have not yet included Mercy College in your plans and you would like to explore the best options for you and your family, contact us at your earliest convenience. We would be glad to assist you on a confidential basis and without any obligation.
